Hi I'm Nicholas J Henry

I grew up in Indiana, moved out to the greater Philadelphia area. Joined the church at the age of 20.

About Me

I am currently a missionary serving out in the Greater Seattle area and doing my best to help others realize the truth of the restored Gospel. I am currently in my mid-20's and plan on going to school after my mission. I hope to be able to use the gifts and talents I have been given to best of my abilities. Having not lived the easiest life I can attest to the fact that the only reason I have gotten though what I have is because our Heavenly Father has some plan for me in the future.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a nondenominational protestant church, we went every week and went to youth group and summer events. For most of high school I became agnostic/areligious and did not concern myself with religion in general. In college one of my best friends was born and raised in the church, just out of curiosity I started to talk with her about the church. One thing led to another and I met with the missionaries in the area and got baptized. I continue to follow the church and feel my understanding of scripture and doctrine to grow even more the longer I am in the church and the more I feel like Heavenly Father shows me.

How I live my faith

In the past I have volunteered in Juarez, Mexico to help build a house for a family. I also have gone to help on a medical boat down on the Amazon River. Even though I work quite a bit I still try to find time to help out when I can, usually with moving people into or out of housing. At church I help out with the Mens group along with helping with set-up and tear down of the snacks our ward has every week.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Nicholas J Henry
It's a nickname, a shortening based off the Book of Mormon. While referring to members and the church as Mormons and the Mormon church is used as short hand it causes unintended confusion. The full name is the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, to show that Jesus (the son of God) is at the head of the church. Show more Show less
