Hi I'm John Robert Gunnerson

People tell me I am a Doogie Howser, Barney Stinson, Or Neil Patrick Harris look-alike! And I am Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in the grand metropolitan areas of Boise, Meridian, and Caldwell, Idaho! I am proud to be from the land of the smurf-terf and potatoes! I have three wonderful parents , (One in heaven), 4 little siblings, many grandparents and countless friends! I graduated from Vallivue High School in 2014 and left late that year to my current station as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Rancho Cucamonga, California. I participated in Theatre programs from my 6th grade year until my graduation of high school. I have held a number of roles including: The Mad Hatter, Tom Sawyer, Vizzini (yes, Princess Bride), Shakespeare's Benedick, and Algernon from Wilde's Importance of Being Earnest. In addition to my Theatrical interests I participated heavily in Choir my upperclassmen years of high school, especially Vallivue's beloved Advanced Men's Choir. I enjoy movies, late night television, reading, dating, and especially any kind of Love Ballad. I love watching my BSU Bronco's and my Los Angles Lakers. I have played the piano since I was 11 and have accompanied many choirs with a smattering of solo performing. Among my favorite quotes by pianists is the title of one of Elton John's albums: "Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player." I have a deep crush on Golden Age Hollywood actress Grace Kelly. Lastly, people tell me I look like Neil Patrick Harris. I take that as a compliment of the highest order. Ala Fine.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this is where I believe that I find a fullness of doctrine and understanding of God. We are encouraged to know for ourselves. We are not meant to live forever on borrowed faith. As I have exhibited faith I have had experiences where I know that the Savior loves me, He can forgive my sins, the Holy Ghost is real, we have living prophets and apostles and that this is the path that Jesus wants me to be on. I love him with all my heart. The gospel of Jesus Christ is much more practical than we think.

How I live my faith

I try to do the best I can. We were not meant to be perfect in this life, but to strive for it. I live my faith by striving to gain the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. I do that by striving to work hard and love my fellow man. "To love another person is to see the face of God." All I have to offer the Lord is my "Blood, Toil, Tears, and Sweat" as Churchill would say. I work everyday to offer Him my will and the work to know what His will is. I want to help relieve other's sufferings. I am motivated by the words of a favorite song: "There is no life, no life without its hunger. Each restless heart beats so imperfectly. But when you come and I am filled with wonder, sometimes I think I glimpse eternity." Jesus Christ is my example and friend.
