Hi I'm Blaine

Hi I’m Blaine. I grew up in Utah and have lived in 7 states and now live in Ohio. I’m a retired Air Force officer. I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I’m an outdoor enthusiast. I enjoy hunting, climbing, boating, water sports, white water rafting, paintball, trap shooting, and skeet shooting. I like to build and repair things and help others with similar projects. I’m a businessman overseeing work to help governmental programs run more effectively. I’m a retired United States Air Force Officer. My wife and I have three wonderful children.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe Jesus Christ died and was resurrected—and that He lives today and has fulfilled the role of Savior of mankind. I believe that we are members of His family, siblings of the Son of God—He loves us personally and deeply. I’m confident He opened the door to forgiveness of our sins, major and minor, and prepared for us a way to return to the presence of our common Father in Heaven. I’m satisfied that mortality is not the whole of our existence, but rather a step or phase in a life that, even now, spans eternity. I understand many of His teachings and have found profound contentment and joy in following them. I have personally experienced His influence in my life. My successes—and my failures—have provided me with experiences that confirm His love and commitment to me. I know what He has done with and for me, He will do with and for anyone—everyone—each and all of us.

How I live my faith

I presently serve as the Bishop (leader) of my congregation. Our faith is a lay faith, meaning I’m not paid for my time. My duties involve tens of hours a week of voluntary service which I happily donate. I’ll serve as Bishop for about five years. Before this calling, I served in many other capacities in the congregations I have lived in throughout the United States. When I’m released from the calling as Bishop, I will return to the congregation to serve wherever I am needed. For now, I counsel individuals and couples regarding life and marriage. I provide ministerial assistance to the sick, injured, homebound, and others weighed down by grief and other profound life experiences. Where appropriate, I assist those in need with financial counseling and assistance. I direct and oversee programs for children, teens, and adults. Most importantly, I assist people in maturing and increasing their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and developing personal understandings of His love for them.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?
