Hi I'm Paolo

I live in the Philippines. I love mangoes, cooking, reading and I am Mormon / Latter-Day Saint.

About Me

I am a quiet person often mistaken for being a bit of snob. I have gotten used to that but I am actually quite an outgoing person. I love to cook in my spare time, experimenting with recipes often resulting terribly. Still, a fun experience. Learning. Occasionally, I go backpacking-- there is nothing better for me than to experience something new, to try something new. Ever tried eating a fried bug? Ever drank really, really spicy soup? Ever had an elephant stepped on you? Ever held a baby tiger? No? Try it! Make those experiences, make those memories. One day I hope to reach the top of mount Everest!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon / Latter-Day Saints because I know that the book of Mormon is truly a word of God that it testifies that Jesus is the Christ and that it can help us in our lives. I have had a couple of experiences where life's storms was really hurling at me and I would tell you now! Without my testimony of the Book of Mormon, having understood my life's purpose-- it, having given me this direction, this perspective that I will know is true is my rod of iron and I will hold firmly onto to that! Whenever life gets hard for me, I always turn to the scriptures and truly, pray before you read, humble yourself and you will see in-between the lines and you would learn so much and get that extra juice that you need to get going!

How I live my faith

Having had a calling to be a ward missionary gave me a desire to read and understand the scriptures more. It gave me this habit of reading the scriptures ever opportune time, even if you do not have a calling. You must start to develop a habit, a desire to read and understand the scriptures. It really can help us in our daily trials.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Paolo
The Atonement of Jesus the Christ is definitely necessary because without it, we would have stayed in a state of sin. Having no way to repent of those sins. We must understand that in God's kingdom; no unclean can enter into His kingdom. Plus, the Atonement is not limited to just our sins but our sufferings, our mistakes, our shortcomings, and the temptations that we face as we trudge through life. We often will fall, and sometimes it will be very hard to pick ourselves up but with the Atonement of Christ. He knows what we have been through, our weaknesses, our mistakes... He will help us stand up, head held up high, filled with the light of Christ and that we can show to the world. When we finally board our flight, and when we arrived at those pearly gates-- Jesus Christ will stand up for us and make up for our shortcomings. Then, we will enter into our Father's kingdom and our increase will be continuous, eternal, without end and ever increasing in glory. Show more Show less

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Paolo
Well, first, we have the sacrament wherein we renew our covenants then we have our classes (each age group has their own class). Visitors are definitely welcomed! You can definitely attend church whether it be on a Sunday or a Mutual Night activity. You are more than welcome to join us! A tip: if you are visiting us on a Sunday, you do not know where to go, please approach a missionary. They will help guide you! Show more Show less
