Hi I'm Bonnie

I grew up in Central and Southern California. I majored in Spanish Education at BYU Idaho. I currently am a stay-at-home mommy.

About Me

I am at home being mommy now to an energetic 2 year old. I enjoy singing, playing the piano, guitar, and ukelele. I love running and I love going to the beach! I earned a Bachelors Degree in Spanish Education with a TESOL minor.

Why I am a Mormon

A couple of generations ago my Jewish grandmother converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (The Mormon Church). As a child, my Grandmother had been told by her mother that the Bible was of course not true, but that it was a moral thing to live by either way and that Jesus had not really come, but that the Bible was kind of like moral lessons that can help people anyway. As a 17 year-old, my grandmother was watching a movie that referenced Christ. She felt the power and she knew at that time that He existed and that there was something to Christianity. When she was pregnant with my father, some missionaries from the Mormon Church knocked on her door and she wanted to be baptized. She believed. Her children were raised in the Mormon Church (my father). And I was raised in the Mormon Church. But that is not why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because when I was a teenager, I knelt down in prayer and chatted with the Lord about the Book of Mormon. I told Him I was going to read it and that I wanted to know it was true. I read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover within a couple months. I felt in my heart that it was the truth. I felt in my heart that everything I had ever been taught really was true. I wanted to shout it from the rooftops. I wanted everyone to feel the joy that I had felt knowing the Savior had come! He had come to heal and save us! Living the teachings of the Mormon Church (the gospel of Jesus Christ) has brought safety and peace and joy to my life. I am a Mormon because I know that it is the Gospel of Christ on the earth.

How I live my faith

Right now I have been blessed with the wonderful opportunity to serve the people of my church in Presidency that looks out for all of the presidencies in what we call a "stake" in our church. There are 9 different wards (congregations) in this stake. In this calling I am able to testify of Christ, lend support to Presidencies of different women's organizations (which we call Relief Society) in our church, and to teach and love. The Relief Society of our church was organized to do just what it's name says--to provide relief and support and love for those in our faith and outside of our faith also. I love doing God's work through this organization and have seen the strengthening and uplifting effects that this program has for all who are involved and those they serve. One program is called "Visiting Teaching". Visiting teaching is organized and we all visit each other in companionships to check on and serve and uplift each other. It has been a huge blessing to me and I have seen it change lives. I know that God works through the sisters of this society to help bring forth His work.
