Hi I'm Luis

I was born in Monterrey, Mexico. I went to Arlington, TX when I was 4 and have lived there ever since. I was baptized 2 years ago!

About Me

I was baptized a little over 2 years ago. The rest of my family also have been recent converts to the church and we got sealed as a family for time and all eternity this passed summer. I have been called to serve to the Utah Salt Lake City East Spanish speaking mission. I love/play all kinds of sports, love the arts, planning to go to BYU after my mission, and love to meet and interact with new people.

Why I am a Mormon

I was not always a member of the church. I was baptized a little over 2 years ago after the example of my older sister, Mother, and younger sister. At first I did not want to take lessons with the missionaries, but I did play tennis with them almost every morning at 5 a.m. for 2 months before taking the lessons. I had always believed in the BIble and tried my best to follow the teachings from it, but I was not sure about the BOM (Book of Mormon). One day when the missionaries came over, I was playing with the BOM that the missionaries gave me and as I flipped in open, I decided to read the paragraph that explained the random chapter that I flipped to. The sentence that stood out to me was "If you believe in the Bible, you believe in the Book of Mormon". That triggered something in me and I decided to pray about it and see if the BOM was true, and sure enough the Spirit testified that it was true and that I should be baptized. I now know that the Bible, along with the Book of Mormon is the fullness of the gospel here in the Earth today. I know that since the BOM is the word of God, Joseph Smith was a true prophet and translated the BOM using the power of God. I know that the Plan of Salvation or the Plan of Happiness is true and it is based on families and how they can be eternal. I know that if we are obedient to the words of our Heavenly Father and his Beloved Son, we will be able to experience the happiness we were promised and that one day we will be able to live in the presence of our Father in Heaven. I love the gospel and I cannot imagine my life without it. All of this I say in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I home teach (teaching 2 or 3 members of the church once a month about a topic for maybe 30 minutes) with the Arlington stake president. I have also decided to serve a full time mission and have been called to serve to the Utah Salt Lake City East Spanish speaking mission where I will be spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone and anyone who is willing to hear his words so that they will experience the same happiness and blessings I have received through becoming apart of His church.
