Hi I'm Dakota

I grew up in California and Utah. I was born in the church but have learned the truth that I have been living. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a full time mission for the Church in Frankfurt Germany. Before my mission I liked to read a lot and have read quite a few books. I also was a mild gamer which means I liked to play video games and play them a lot but was not willing to go the extra step and spend a large amount of money on them or treat it like a job going from 9 to 5. I also was interested in the sciences and liked soccer (although truth be told I am not very good at it). Now I am enjoying serving the Lord and learning German. Now my hobbies are teaching and studying the Gospel with all those that I can.

Why I am a Mormon

Well for me it is not as spectacular a story as some may have. I was born and raised in the church and as such have spent my whole life learning about it. Some may say that because of this I have been brainwashed into believing but I do not think this is the case. For everyone there comes a time, whether they are a convert or someone raised in the church, where they have to decide for themselves whether what they have been taught is true. In the church this is often called a person's true conversion. For me it came about when I was asked to give the lesson one day to my class in church about the atonement. As I was studying for it and later giving the lesson I realized that I knew without a shadow of a doubt that what I was saying was undeniably true. It was then that I came to the realization/made the choice to follow the gospel and to believe what I was taught. Honestly though for anyone who has that great a witness of the truth there really isn't much of a choice to be made.

How I live my faith

As I said in the about me section the biggest way I am living my faith at the moment is I am going on a mission where I will spend two years teaching the gospel and serving others in the beautiful country of Germany. On a normal everyday basis right now I serve people where and when I can and try to share a piece of the joy the gospel brings me with them as I do it.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is the knowledge and belief you have inside of yourself that the church is true and all of those other things in the official answer. But a testimony is often more than that. It is your personal understanding of why those things are true and how they manifest that truth in your life. It also can cover much more than just the official answer. Your testimony is your way of sharing what you believe with the Holy Ghost to back you up. If your testimony is sincere then every time you share it you and all those you share it with will be touched with the Holy Ghost manifesting the truth of what you are saying. Show more Show less
