Hi I'm Oliver

I'm a missionary, science enthusiast and I'm a mormon

About Me

I was born in Manchester, England whilst my Dad was studying at university. I'm the second of four boys, and grew up in Leicestershire in the heart of England. Ever since I was little, my parents took me to see the history and natural beauties of Britain. As all children are when faced with the prospect of spending Saturday in a museum, I wasn't always enthusiastic about this. But as I've grown older I've developed a strong love for my country and heritage. I'm also a big fan of all things science, and took 3 A-levels; in maths, chemistry and biology. But some of my other interests are following the footy (soccer), reading books, spending time outdoors, practicing piano and reading the news. When I was 18, I made the hard to decision to leave my life and education behind to serve as a missionary (minister) for my church, and was assigned to work in Mesa Arizona. When I return, I will study biochemistry in Manchester

Why I am a Mormon

Whilst I was growing up, my parents taught me the values that enriched their lives; such as faith in Jesus Christ and a belief in God. However, I will always be grateful to my parents for giving me the time, space and opportunity to develop these as my own beliefs when I entered my teenage years. I am a Mormon because I feel an inner-happiness, peace, purpose and sense of belonging as I live the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints And as a missionary, I now have the wonderful opportunity to watch others find these same feelings as they start to explore and discover the faith that I share with them

How I live my faith

I live my faith each day by trying to follow the example of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Regular studies of the Bible and Book of Mormon help me to learn about Jesus Christ and what he would have me do, then through prayer I have a personal connection to our Father in Heaven which gives me the strength to try and accomplish that monumental task. Living my faith includes enjoying time with my family, weekly church attendance and engaging in local service and charity events, among many other things
