Hi I'm Guy

I grew up in Mesa, AZ. I work in the high-tech wireless industry, love living in small towns, am a father of 6, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My interests and hobbies are kind of a tossed salad of sorts; I studied in college to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering, but I enjoy interaction with people more than with technology. Although I'm over 50, I am currently pursuing a second degree in the medical field, and love to tinker on old cars, especially Volkswagen Bugs and classic Chevy trucks. I am most a peace when standing in waist deep water with a fishing pole in hand, trolling for trout with my Dad and my boys in the lakes of Northern AZ, or hunched over the engine compartment of a classic old car that just needs a little "elbow grease" to get it running. I am married to a Mormon woman who is a wonderful, caring mother, and has been an amazing help mate in raising our 6 children, 4 of which are now out and on their own. My job has taken me to many wonderful places throughout the country, and to other places around the world, but being home is the place I enjoy the most. I love to listen to classic rock-n-roll, and have attempted to play my own version of "music" on my electric and acoustic guitars on rare occasions when I am not working, studying, or participating in church activities.

Why I am a Mormon

Although both my wife and I come from families that have been Mormon for generations, I am Mormon because of a conscience decision to live a lifestyle that, although is not always convenient or popular, is one that provides me with the plain and precious guidelines and principles to lead a Christ-like life, free of addictions and burdens that living a worldly life typically entails. There is also no better way that I know of to raise a child to be a well adjusted, respectful, patriotic, and productive member of society than by participating in the programs of the church, and in teaching the same principles of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints within the walls of our own home.

How I live my faith

I have been an active member of my church for my entire life, and have enjoyed the experiences of working with the Youth programs in the past, but I am most excited about my recent involvement as a Mission leader for our area, as I get to work with Mormon Missionaries that are serving in our little community to help find and teach people that are interested in learning more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What's even better, is that I have the unique privilege of working with my wife Sylvia who also serves as a local missionary to our congregation. We love visiting with folks while in the presence of the Mormon Missionaries that are typically up-beat, energetic Mormon young adults that have dedicated 18-24 months of full-time, volunteer service to teach and serve people of all faiths living in our town. I also enjoy the blessings of seeing the growth and change in our own 19 year old son who too is serving a similar, 2 year mission in the country of Bolivia, and am motivated to help people come unto Christ in our own community with the help of the local Mormon Missionaries, in a similar manner that my own son is doing in remote towns of Southern Bolivia. I love it!
