Hi I'm Michael

I do computer forensics. I know American Sign Language and South African Sign Language. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to hike, camp, and be outdoors. I work with computers all day as a Network Admin at a High School so it is nice to get outside. I served my mission in South Africa which included some time in Botswana. I was able to teach and learn from the deaf there. I currently use American Sign Language to help those around me including interpreting church meetings. I've been married for 6 years and we have been blessed with our first baby who will be born in May 2015.

Why I am a Mormon

I've know the church was true since I was 6 years old. When I was 6 i needed to have a brain surgery. My brain hemorrhaged do to a AVM. The doctors told me that I wouldn't be normal after my surgery. I would have to learn to walk again, I would have a hard time speaking and I would loose some sight just to name a few. Before my operation my father gave me a blessing through the Priesthood which he holds. In that blessing he said that everything would be alright and that the doctors would know what to do. I came out of the operation with out a single side affect amazing the doctors. I know the reason was the power of God through that blessing. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the only true church in the earth where that Priesthood power can be found. I know that it is led by a true and living prophet, the only one on the earth today, Thomas S Monson. As I read the Book of Mormon and The Bible together I better understand Gods plan for me and helps me make the changes that I need to stay on the path to God. I know that through that Priesthood power we can be sealed to our families for eternity. This means that we will be with our loved ones after this life. I don't want to die and never see my wife again. The Priesthood give me the chance to see her again and be by her side indefinably. God doesn't want us to be alone or sad. This is just one way that he shows us that.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday. There is a quote that I always remember, " we need to be good examples for we may be the only scriptures some people read." No matter what is going on around me I want to do what I know is right and what I know my Heavenly Father would be proud of. Part of that is looking for any way to serve. Service is where we grow and learn from each other while getting something done on the side. The more we serve the more we love!

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Michael
We don't worship Joseph Smith. We just take the time to remember what was done to allow the Fullness of the Gospel to come forth in our day. Just as we remember Abraham, Moses and Adam from the Old Testament we remember what Joseph Smith did to help the work of God move forward. Show more Show less
