Hi I'm Levi

I love the outdoors. I love my family and my friends. I'm a mormon in San Diego California and loving it.

About Me

I was born in Nevada and I've lived in Utah since I was 4. It was 5 years before the LDS missionaries came to my home. Of course I didn't have a perfect understanding of the gospel, but I loved it and wanted to be baptized. After a few years, I decided that I wanted to become a missionary. And I do it because I love it. This gospel is incredible. I will be serving an LDS mission in San Diego, California from December 2014 until December 2016. After my mission I plan to go to Utah State University to become a mechanical engineer. Eventually, I want to become a teacher of some kind. I love every day being a Mormon. I keep learning more and more. With each thing that I learn, I come closer to my Savior.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom first let the missionaries enter our home in the spring of 2006. They taught us about Jesus Christ. They taught us about his love for us and why we are here. They showed us a path that I didn't fully understand at the time. Because my mom was part of a polygamist family, we had to meet with Jeffery R Holland, one of the Twelve who are called by God to operate His church. My mom had to separate from my dad so we could be baptized. I was torn. I didn't know why. Of course I was only 9. I wanted to find answers. It wasn't until I was 11 that I decided to truly pray about the Book of Mormon. When I did, there was such a firm, yet subtle feeling of all my doubts about the book being swept away. It wasn't all at once that I knew the truth of the entirety of the restored gospel. Through years of difficulties, repentance, and continual prayer, I can now say that I know it to be true. I have believed since the day I was baptized. I have come to know little by little until I know it in full. No, I'm not perfect. No, I don't believe we can be perfect without Christ. After all is said and done, I do believe that I will be with God. Only two years after my family was baptized, my oldest brother left for a proselyting mission to bring the world the truth of the Gospel. Two other brothers have now done the same. I am now going to do the same for two years of my life. I don't think that I would have believed if the circumstances weren't just right, but God has a plan for all of us. I found it.

How I live my faith

I have been actively going to church since my baptism at age 9. I have been in a few leadership positions among the youth organizations in my neighborhood. From September 2013 until November 2014, I served as a Family History Consultant, teaching people in my neighborhood about family history research and discovering who our ancestors were. I am currently a missionary for the LDS church, serving from the tenth of December, 2014 until December of 2016 in San Diego, California. As a missionary, I work full time to invite others to come unto the Savior Jesus Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ. I work in Spanish and English.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Levi
The Atonement is what makes it possible that one day, all of us will be resurrected, and also that we have the ability to be forgiven of the mistakes we have made. There have been times in my life that I felt downhearted and that no one loved me or cared for me. Those times were the hardest of my life, and I accepted less than my potential because I believed that was all I could ever be worthy of. The Atonement of Jesus Christ pulled me out of despair. In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus felt and suffered everything we have and ever will. He did it so that he could perfectly understand us and have compassion on us. He had to die alone so that he could perfectly know, first hand, what all of us would have to endure if not for the Plan of Salvation. He made it possible so we wouldn't have to die alone. He made it possible to comfort those who have died without Him. Jesus Christ is the way of Salvation because of the Atonement. Show more Show less

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Levi
The Holy Ghost tells us about truth. There is nothing good in the world that wasn't inspired by or confirmed by the Holy Ghost. Jesus Christ taught with the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God. If you go before God in prayer, the Holy Ghost will tell you the truth of all things. I've often felt the spirit more powerfully when I think of God just as he is, and how he wants us to see him, as our Father. Show more Show less
