Hi I'm Joseph Stanley

I love being active. I am goofy. I am preparing for a mission to Texas. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I absolutely LOVE people! All people, young or old, rich or poor, small are tall, everyone! Every single person has a story that is unique to them, and every singe one is fascinating to me. I love helping people. There is no greater feeling than giving to others. I love my family and friends, and am very protective. I am very energetic, hyper even. I love playing any kind of sport, doing any outdoor activity, and I love to SING!!! Singing is good for the soul. Also I'm a sap. Yes, I cry in movies. And books. And real life. Being empathetic towards others has its pros and cons, I suppose. I hate seeing someone sad, and am quick to give hugs. I love children. Yes, at times they can be little pukes, both literally and figuratively, but the purity of their hearts is something to behold. I cannot wait to have children of my own. Hopefully they don't take after me TOO much, or watch out, world!

Why I am a Mormon

My family grew up being Mormon until I was 14. I had gone off the "straight and narrow path" pretty far. I never really thought I would find myself back at church until a friend of mine left for his mission. He came back, and I could see the change in him. I wanted to see for myself just HOW living the gospel of Jesus Christ can make someone radiate love and happiness. It didn't take long for me to realize just how big of a change I saw in myself. I was able to love people more, to get angry less, and to appreciate all that I have. I gained so much more than I gave up. My friend was an incredible example for me. So, here I am, less than a year later, preparing to serve a mission of my own! Without the grace of the Atonement of Christ in my life, to help me change my life, to build me up, I would be a very dismal person. I suppose that's why I think it is so humorous when someone that doesn't know our faith claims I am not a Christian. He is most certainly my Savior and Redeemer. I invite you to come to know the fullness of His gospel, and how it can bring you to a level of peace and happiness that cannot be found anywhere else on Earth! Keep in mind that if you really, TRULY want to know if this is THE church of Christ, try living it before you make any judgments. Faith is action! If you don't try it first, then you will NEVER know! So give it a go, before you say no. :)

How I live my faith

I teach music to the children in our ward (Note: the Church is separated regionally into stakes, then wards. Kind of like a school district and schools), and I enjoy it so much. At times they are hard to manage, but when they sing earnestly, it can reduce just about anyone to tears. I am also a ward missionary, which means I try to help new converts and less active members of our faith in any way I can, be it through service, teaching lessons, or just friendship. Sometimes, all someone needs is a friend. I also aid the full-time missionaries (the ones with name tags) as often as possible. I try to help everyone I can. You never know if that one act of simple service will change their life, or change YOURS. I try my best to not be judgmental of others, especially those who have a different lifestyle than my own. Jesus Christ sat and spoke with people from all walks of life; what makes me above doing that? There's a phrase that I think of often: Don't judge someone because they sin differently than you. Sometimes I DO judge someone I just met, only to realize there is much more than meets the eye. We ALL make mistakes. We are all in this life together, whether we like it or not, so we might as well like it, and be nice to each other. :)
