Hi I'm Olsen

I'm an Oregonian. I love running and soccer. Go Barcelona! I snowboard, but I'd learn to ski. I love backpacking. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a runner. After I discovered my love for the sport, I ran track for two years and Cross Country for one in High School. My family were foster parents for my cousin for a year and still see him every weekend. He is two and a half. I am currently preparing for my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of Jesus Christ. Through His atonement I am able to overcome my challenges, repent of my sins, and draw nearer to the Holy Ghost. The gift of the Holy Ghost is a life changing gift that all should receive by baptism into Christ's church then by the laying on of hands. Having apostles and Prophets is a blessing, their guidance and wisdom uplifts and reinforces my testimony.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading the scriptures. I love to read the doctrine of the New Testament. My faith is my life. I strive everyday to become more Christ-like.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Olsen
Baptism isn't only the entering into the LDS church. When one is baptized with Priesthood authority the make a promise with God to always remember Him, keep His commandments, and witness unto him. In exchange God blesses us to always have His spirit. After baptism one receives the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. The Holy Ghost then becomes our companion as we are worthy of it, because God does not dwell in unholy temples. The Holy Ghost can warn us of Physical and Spiritual danger, and impress us to do things. We can feel of the Holy Ghost before we have the gift but this is just the Power of the Holy Ghost. Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Olsen
To return to God and be saved one needs to be baptized (John 3:5). Not everyone on the earth has known Jesus Christ, let alone been baptized. We believe God is our loving Heavenly Father. As our Father, he wants as many of us to return to him as possible. He knew that not everyone would have the opportunity to be baptized into his church, as it has not always been on the earth due to apostasy. God made it possible to do baptisms for the dead to make covenants for the dead. They still have their agency, so they can accept or reject the ordnance. When we are being baptized for the dead we are literally saving them from spiritual death, which is being cut of from God forever. It's a blessing in my life to do these things as I can help others return to their God. Show more Show less
