Hi I'm Marcus

I'm a mormon. I grew up in Montana. I love life.

About Me

As you probably know, my name is Marcus and I just finished high school (graduating class of 24!). I was diagnosed with a mild form of Dandy Walkers when I was three. Which if you don't already know, this is just a condition where, in this case, I was born with a very little cerebellum. Anyway lets just say I wasn't the best or most coordinated when it came to sports. Now academics, that was a different story. I graduated 3rd in a very competitive class of 24. As far as hobbies go, I have found great comfort in music. As a result I spend most my days expanding my extensive music library, with some DJ-ing on the side. I plan on attending college for a degree in electrical engineering after I serve my two year mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky because I had been born into the church. Throughout the years as I grew in age, I began to question my religion more and more (it didn't help that me and my sister were the only members in our school). I was so not in the mentality of the church that I began to sin heavily. It was not till an interview I had with the bishop that I began to turn my life around. The bishop challenged me to start a routine of daily prayer (morning/night). I started this routine, and it wasn't long before I realized that the church is teaching an irrefutable truth about the restored gospel on this earth. Through these prayers I finally got the strength to confess these sins to my parents and to the bishop. I now have a firm belief in the church and that it was restored through a living prophet named Joseph Smith, and that anything is possible with enough faith.

How I live my faith

I actively live my faith through church attendance and participation in the many wonderful activities we plan. I have actually been involved in planning some of the bigger activities we hold, such as dances, water sports, etc. As far as church, I attend nearly every Sunday. Now that I am old enough I have the privilege of teaching the 11-12 year old kids about the awesomeness of the gospel.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Marcus
It was necessary for Jesus to suffer the unthinkable for all our sins, cause humans aren't perfect and we are guaranteed to make mistakes (no matter how hard we try to avoid them). Since " ...kingdom of God, for no unclean thing can dwell there" Moses 6:57. Therefore God recognized that we needed a way to forgive our sins and become clean again. So he formulated a plan to help us do just that, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son (Jesus Christ) that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life" John 3:16. I know that Jesus Christ was and is necessary in the repentance process and that only through this great atonement that he provided for us, can we ever have any hope to cleanse ourselves and live with god our father and Jesus Christ. I also have a firm belief in the atonement healing ability (because guilt eats at you), after my transgression I held so much guilt that it just kicked out my motivation to do anything with my life. After I repented of this sin, I felt the guilt just leave me and the motivation to do stuff come back all of the sudden. It was awesome!! Show more Show less
