Hi I'm Barrett

Born in California, live in Idaho. I play tennis, love to read, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Barrett, and I'm a Mormon. I play tennis as much as I possibly can, and do a lot of work on the computer. I graduated from high school in 2011. I enjoy playing sports, hanging out with friends, and getting to know people. I find it easy to get along with people, and to get to know them. I am the youngest in my family, with 2 older brothers and one older sister. My dad was in the US Navy for a long time, before retiring and moving to Idaho, where I currently live. I am currently serving a mission in the United States, and I am loving every second of it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon since I was born. Even back then, I felt a peace while at Church that I was not able to find anywhere else. Now, that peace is something I so look forward to each week. In today's world, that feeling is something that, once you know, is just so hard to try and live without. I love the Gospel and everything in it. I know the Church is true, and I have seen how living the Gospel of Jesus Christ has changed people's lives for the better. As a missionary, I continue to see and feel experiences that add so much to my testimony of the Gospel.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday. I come to Church every week, and enjoy the feelings you get there immensely. I am a Ward Missionary. I go throughout the ward, to visit members and see how they are doing. I also have the privilege of teaching once a month during Church. It is a great opportunity to learn as you prepare, and share what you have learned with those who you teach. When possible, I try to go out with the missionaries, and help teach those interested in the Church. I love talking about the Church with anyone who asks. I am also a home teacher, which gives me the ability to bring Gospel messages to members, that they may share the Gospel with others. Right now, I am a full-time missionary for the Church. I have the great blessing of being able to share the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ everyone I meet. It is such a great time!

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Mormons are not really different than anyone else. We dress for Church in what is referred to as "Sunday best." For men, dress shirts, mostly white, with ties and slacks. They also wear sport coats and suits. Women wear modest dresses and skirts. Children also dress up for Sunday. Church members celebrate regional and national holidays from around where they live. We also celebrate personal holidays, such as birthdays and anniversaries. We also celebrate Christmas and Easter, because of the significance of what happened on those days, namely the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
