Hi I'm Troy Downs

I was born in Utah and moved to Kansas when I was two. I enjoy sports, board games, and being in the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of three and love being outdoors. I started sports and camping at a young age and have continued on to do sports throughout High School. I have backpacked for up to three weeks at a time and love being in the land God created. When I am out in nature I feel free as I rock climb, hunt, fish, and simply explore. My hobbies have grown as I have gotten older, reaching into shooting shotguns and rifles, paint balling, and even blacksmith work. I was never the popular kid in school but as the years went by I found myself with more and more true friends that I had gained through kindness and service. I would never trade these friends for any amount of popularity. Even with these friends, I still often felt empty much of the time until I truly turned to the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I have studied out the Bible and the Book of Mormon and found that they coincide. I have also gone through the effort of following the commandments to the best of my abilities and seen the blessing in my life that they have brought me. Most important of all, I have taken the time to ask God if this church is true and he answered my prayer through the Holy Ghost and confirmed to me this church is true.

How I live my faith

I have been a leader among the Youth ever sense I was 12. I helped plan and lead out activities for those around me. I have also been able to serve many, in my church and outside it, as I have worked to obtain my Eagle rank in Boy scouts and striven to follow the commandments and in doing so have obtained so much joy.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Troy Downs
Growing up I have been taught to help all around us that are in need and I proudly live up to that. If I see someone that is in need, I will go out of my way to help them on their way. I am leaving on a mission for two years and during that time I will be sharing the gospel because I want to share the joy it has given me, but while I am away I will also be providing service for those that are in need and willing to accept my help.
