Hi I'm Rebekah

I grew up in Oregon and attend Brigham Young University-Idaho to become an elementary school teacher. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Family is the most important thing to me. I am the second of five children and love them all so much! Like my older brother, I have been attending BYU-Idaho for the last year, studying to become an elementary school teacher. I want to teach first and second graders or junior high math. Currently, I am working at a preschool and I am loving it! I love working with children and helping them to learn and grow. I want to influence many young peoples lives and I feel that teaching is one of the best ways I can do that. Although I love the children I work with now, they will not remember me in twenty years. However, I can clearly remember all of my elementary school teachers and the great influence they had on me. I love spending time in the outdoors hiking and camping. My favorite place to camp is Yellowstone National Park.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have gained a testimony of its standards and teachings. Members of the church are asked to live by higher standards than the world. We are asked to abstain from drugs, alcohol, tobacco, addictive substances, gambling, etc. We have been asked to dress modestly, serve others, use clean language, practice chastity, and more. Although it seems that we are giving up a lot, the blessings and peace we gain from living by these standards far exceeds the temporal pleasure gained by participating in them. I love the standards I am expected to live by because my life is better for them. Not only do I see the truth and joy that comes from living by church standards, but I have seen the truth and blessings that come from the teachings of the prophets in the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon has been a great blessing in my life. I encourage everyone to read it and then follow the counsel given by Moroni (Moroni 10:3-5) to ask if it is true. I testify that if you do this with a sincere heart, you will receive an answer just as I have.

How I live my faith

I am preparing to serve a full-time mission for my church. As I prepare I am reading and studying the Book of Mormon and General Conference talks. I made the choice to serve a mission because of the promptings of the Holy Ghost. I want to influence the world for better and I can't think of a better way than to share with others what brings me so much happiness.
