Hi I'm Taylor

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, the Live Music Capital of the world. My favorite things include smiling, music and Abe Lincoln.

About Me

I'm from the great city of Austin, Texas. Due to the fact I grew up going to live music shows, I have always had a love for all types of music; from Broadway to Hip Hop to Indie Folk, I love it all. I've also had a love for being active and played volleyball competitively from when I was twelve until my senior year of high school. I still enjoy watching my favorite teams and also playing with friends. I love going on crazy adventures but I also enjoy a good movie marathon. Basically I could be listening to music, playing volleyball, climbing a mountain, or watching all of the Lord of the Rings movies in one day and I would be completely happy! As my hero Abraham Lincoln put it, "Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be." I'm currently a student at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and plan to study nursing. I've been called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Irvine, CA and will be preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Spanish language! I'm extremely excited and thankful for this opportunity to spread the message of this Gospel that has blessed my life and brought me endless joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon and grew up in a family dedicated to our faith. Though it may seem as though my situation would mean that I am a Mormon because of familial conformity or because my parents told me to or because I have no other choice, I have gained a deep love for this church that was completely my own. The joy I have received from being Mormon is because of a personal testimony I have received. I know that we all have a loving Heavenly Father because I have seen his hand in my life. I know that he sent his Son to sacrifice everything for us to atone for our sins as we strive to follow Him because I have felt His love for me and everyone around me. I feel so much happiness when I follow His teachings in this Gospel. I am a Mormon because through every personal experience, whether joyful, painful, or otherwise, I have found comfort and guidance to help me through everything because of this Gospel.

How I live my faith

In high school, I served as the president of the 16-18 year old young women in my ward. I led meetings of all the young women (12-18 year olds), I aided in the planning of weekly activities for the girls, and I also met with our adult leaders about what we could do to help the young women in any way that they might need. I also was involved in many student organizations in high school, probably my favorite of all was a club that promoted kindness in our school, our community, and in our whole school district that I had the opportunity to be a leader for and give speeches for at our school district meetings. I also was involved in a mentoring program through school and it was just the most amazing experience to be a friend to kids in our community. In my first semester at college, I served as a teacher for half of the women in my ward and taught lessons about different gospel principles every other week in church to those wonderful ladies! My second semester I was called as a co-leader of a small group of people in my ward who gathers together every monday and does a fun/spiritual/service activity that would be planned by my co-leader and myself! Whether it's through church or school or the community I loved being an advocate for love, kindness, and service towards others.
