Hi I'm Brett

I grew up in Utah. I have four children and I am a dentist. I am a Mormon raising my children in Utah.

About Me

I am a Father of four children, our oldest is 11 and our youngest is 2. My wife and I have been married 15 years now. I spent a great deal of time in school to become a dentist. I enjoy golfing, backpacking, fishing, and in general spending time outdoors. I am an avid sports fan and really enjoy following my favorite teams.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon church and I have always enjoyed being a member and going to church. As I got older I never really questioned the doctrine or the need to go to church, but at the same time I felt that I needed to forge my own path in life and make sure this was a part of what I wanted going forward. I was given the opportunity at 19 years old to serve as a Mormon missionary in Uruguay. This decision was difficult for many reasons. It was hard to leave my family and my girlfriend of two years but I wanted to serve and have the opportunity to find out if this was the right path for me. During those two years as a missionary my dedication to God and my spiritual strength increased immensely. I found great happiness in dedicating 100% of my time to serving other people and not worrying about myself like I had my entire life to that point. Those two years made a huge difference in my life and helped form a foundation for what I believe and what I try and teach my children both by word and example. The gospel of Jesus Christ gives me a template to help me through the difficulties of raising four very different children. One of my children in particular has severe behavior and defiance issues. Many times I have relied on my spiritual strength to help me have the patience to persevere and show this child the love and direction he needs despite his difficult behavior. I choose to go to church each Sunday because I always feel uplifted and glad I did each time I drive home with my family. Going to church gives my week an extra boost to keep me heading the right direction. I am very happy to be a member of the Mormon church, I can't imagine my life without the direction and teachings it gives me both for myself personally and also as a Father of four wonderful children.

How I live my faith

I really enjoy working with the youth in our community and church. I have most recently been helping with the Cub Scout program as the Cubmaster the last two years. It has been a ton of fun coming up with activities to make scouts fun and also help this boys begin to have a love for scouting so they will continue as boy scouts and hopefully get their Eagle Scout award some day. I enjoy being a part of a strong community that supports each other both in good times and bad. As a Mormon I have the opportunity to visit two families monthly to see how they are doing and make sure they do not have any needs that have gone unnoticed. I have visited these families for four years now and we have become very good friends and look out for each other.
