Hi I'm Matt Hawkins

I'm a missionary, runner, piano player, and youngest brother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Utah all my life and I really enjoy the community, as well as having many of my relatives nearby. I enjoy distance running, reading, strategy games, listening to music, playing piano, and spending time with family and friends. For me, family is a huge part of my life and I consider my parents and two brothers to be some of my closest friends. They are awesome!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised in the church there came a point in my life when I really had to find out for myself if it was true. After all if it wasn't, why would I put so much time and energy into it? I took the challenge of reading the Book of Mormon and I prayed to ask God if it was true. The answer I received did not come immediately; it was more of a process. I started to notice that everything that was going well in life, my family relationships, my peace with myself and the world as well as my confidence in God and His plan for me had stemmed from the truths taught in this church. Gradually I came to realize that nothing but the truth could have given me the peace that I feel. It was the best way God could have answered me. I now know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints really is true, and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that God loves us and that through His plan we can be happy not only in this life but in the life to come.

How I live my faith

I grew up in the church and have had the chance to serve in many ways, each of which has helped me to grow and be a better person. I believe that Faith is best shown by the way we live, and so I have tried to live my life in a way that would please God. I have as many weaknesses and shortcomings as the next guy, but I have started to understand more and more that our Heavenly Father is more concerned with the direction we are going than where we are right now. He really does love us! Right now I am serving a two year mission in South Carolina, and it has been one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. It is amazing to see people's lives change for the better as they embrace the teachings of the gospel.
