Hi I'm Colton

I am fascinated with history, politics, and people. I'll be serving a mission in Louisiana and then going to BYU. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

One of the frequent joys of my life is the continuous recognition of just how blessed I am. I think one of the most interesting facts about our world is that each person is so entirely different, but each one is of equal value. I intend to devote a significant portion of my life to discovering and connecting with new people. Because of this I spend a lot of my time with my friends, family, and aquaintnces. Outside of the Gospel, relationships are undoubtedly the thing I value most in the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know there is no other way I can obtain the truth and light I need to enter the Kingdom on High with my Father. This church, is a church of information. God does not withold light and knowledge to those who are ready. This is a central focus of our church; to reach a state of preparedness that will allow us to be provided with more knowledge and instruction. Many feel that the church is exclusive to those who are not already members. I know this is not the case. Looking back to when I saw no need or purpose for the church, I can see from retrospect how welcoming and open armed all those around me were. I also recognize that what I then percieved as pressure to conform, was merely an invitation to participate in a higher form of life. I never did conform. Anyone who knows me well can see I don't fit the Mormon stereotype, but that's ok because you don't have to inorder to partake in the blessings of the Gospel. I know this church is the only one with the full truth of the Gospel. If I didn't I would leave, and that's not hyperbole because I almost did once. I don't think I could leave now. Not because I'm bound by some exterior force, but because I don't think my concious could bear the burden of denying the testimony I now have. My name is Colton, and I tried for years to find a path other than His church that would allow me to obtain the things we all want in life. One doesn't exist. If it did I would have found it. Because of this, I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I stive with great effort to live my faith each and every day, and believe me it takes great effort. Its easy to live the gospel on Sundays, but can become increasingly difficult as Monday approaches and you are thrust back into the world. To live faithfully everyday I make a concious effort to be kind and helpful to those who surround me. I also try to be involved in areas where my faith crosses over into organized religion. I regularly teach during Sunday meetings when asked to do so, and I am about to leave on a mission. I am proud to spend the next 2 years of my life serving the Lord in Louisiana. There's a saying that religion is a man in church thinking about fishing, and faith is a man fishing thinking about God. I don't make the distinction. Instead I endeavor to think of God in all places. Regardless of where I am or what I'm doing. Its important for me to ensure that God is always an influence in my heart and mind.
