Hi I'm Ashton

Im a friend, a college student, I longboard, I'm a total baller, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Nauvoo Illinois, and moved to Indiana at the end of my 8th grade year. I graduated form Hamilton Southeasten High School in December of 2013. Among other things, I enjoy longboarding, playing basketball, and running. I love listening to music, and even singing along sometimes. I put my own ambitions aside to serve a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but little did I know the Lord had a different plan for me. After serving a little under a year, I had to go home for health reasons. Now I am doing my best to further my education and find other ways to serve here at home. Some things in life just take a while to completely understand. And I'm sure I will in a few years, but for now I just take things one day at a time.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon ever since birth, but that does not mean I have followed blindly. I have always been one to question authority, and that sometimes gets me into trouble. The majority of my childhood friends have fallen away, but I know of the spirit and peace of mind I have felt, and I cannot deny it. At times where it gets hard I turn myself even closer to God, and with his help I work through it. I love this gospel, and I know Jesus Christ lives. He and the Father love us, and have a plan for each and every one of us. I know the church was restored through the ladder-day prophet Joseph Smith, who started out with a simple question. Which church is the true? And through asking in faith, he was able to receive direction from God and Jesus Christ, in how to translate The Book of Mormon, and Restore the Church Jesus put in place long ago. I believe the church still operates through such revelation, given to the Prophet, Thomas S. Monson. Families are forever, and Jesus Christ lives.

How I live my faith

I start the beginning of every morning, and the end of every night with a prayer, and as many in between as I feel I need. I feel the love of my Savior constantly throughout my day and it is a feeling I would not trade for the world. I try to see the best in people, and keep an open mind as I experience life. This is my last year as a youth in the church, so I am still attending youth activities, along with church services. I am focusing my daily study on The Book of Mormon, but also looking for connections to the Bible. I believe they work together to testify of Christ.
