Hi I'm Ben

I like to smile. I love having fun. I believe in loving hard and laughing harder. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest child in my family and am serving a mission in Taiwan, Taipei. This is a dream come true to me because I have always wanted to learn Chinese! I'm only 18 so I'm not exactly in possession of what many would call "life experience", BUT that just means I have a little more time to stop and smell the roses. I am without a doubt an optimist who loves to play the Ukulele. "I like Pina Colada's and getting caught in the rain", sitting by the ocean and just enjoying life in general. Golf, music, sandy beaches and ukuleles are some of god's greatest gifts to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Gospel of Jesus Christ makes me happy. I remember not to long ago when I believed I didn't need God to be happy. I thought it was made up, that I was believing in a family tradition and not much more. Then one day I had an experience that changed my life. As I was talking to a friend about whether or not we really believed this church to be true, I had a feeling deep in my heart that if I really wanted to know I would have to pray about it and ask God myself. When I got down on my knees that night and offered up my heart to God I was visited with a spirit of peace, clarity, and comfort. It was as though a light bulb turned on in my head. From that moment onward I have never doubted if God was real or if he answered prayers. Following that experience I realized there was a lot more to this than what I had initially expected. I decided to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. Despite the lack of one extraterrestrial experience designed to seal my testimony forever, the Book led me to change my life. It did and I believe that nothing short of and inspired record could have led me to become so much happier and full of love. If I can be this happy all the time, then I don't see why I wouldn't want to be a part of this.

How I live my faith

At this very moment I am a missionary, meaning that I have dedicated two years of my life to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with those who have not had a chance to receive it. The place where I am serving is Taiwan, Taipei. While I am here my duty is to share this wonderful message of a loving Heavenly Father and a Savior and Redeemer who atoned for our sins in order for us to all have a chance to return to God's presence. I love this opportunity I have to serve these people and to invite them to come unto Christ.

In whom should we have faith?

Ben
I believe that faith in Jesus Christ is one of the most important principles taught in the Church. Jesus Christ is the son of God. He is our Savior and the Redeemer of the world. To have faith is not always easy though because it often requires you to believe in something you may not be sure about. However I will not hesitate to tell anyone that faith in Jesus Christ and trusting him to help you will prove in time that your faith was not wasted. I have faith that He alone atoned for our sin's and made it possible for us to overcome our imperfections and one day return to god. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Ben
The one thing that brought me closer to god than anything else in the world (that I can think of) is prayer. Our Heavenly Father wants us to know him. He wants to help us and he wants us to come closer to him. When we pray we approach him with the desires of our hearts and he listens. I know he listens. If you pray to god and ask him if he is there he will answer you. James 1:5 says, "If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of god, that giveth to all men liberally and upraideth not, and it shall be given him." I have had my prayers answered. They are answered with the warmest feeling of love and you just know when you get your answer. I know that everyone is capable of receiving that assurance from the Lord. Show more Show less
