Hi I'm Roman

I'm a Japanese American that grew up in Utah. I'm an avid outdoorsman and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a medical doctor by day. On weekends, half days, or holidays I'm enjoying outdoor adventure. In Utah that is all around me. During the summer I enjoy hikes into the wilderness just 30 minutes away. I can go anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 weeks. I also love to rock climb, mountain bike, wakeboard, road bike, and run. I've completed more than 20 marathons including the Boston marathon three times. This spring I mountainbiked 106 miles in one day in Moab, Utah. I've ridden the Lotoja road bike race 206 miles in a day. During the winter months I enjoy backcountry skiing and climbing frozen waterfalls. There is a great sense of accomplishment reaching the top of a mountain all under my own muscle power. However my favorite activity is playing with my grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I love my family and the unity that the Mormonism brings to it. In my profession I daily see the consequences of not having that guidance. There is so much suffering and heartache that could be avoided. I'm a mormon because it makes me happy. It makes my family happy. What more could I ask for?

How I live my faith

On Sundays, a day that many outdoor enthusiasts are recreating, I'm with my family in church enjoying the fellowship of friends and neighbors. I feel that it isn't any sacrifice to show devotion and appreciation to a Heavenly Father who has given me so much.
