Hi I'm Sam

I'm a writer, I'm a movie enthusiast, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey, my name is Sam. I have a passion for writing, I love to be able to craft and tell stories that both entertain and enlighten. I am always trying to grow and improve as a writer. I also have a huge passion for movies and for filmmaking (and for television as well). I consider myself to be a practical but usually positive critic (although that last bit may have something to do with the fact that I usually choose entertainment which I am confident in). My goal is to one day be a screenwriter and film director. Film is my main focus, though I am also interested in being involved with TV. I also like a wide variety of music, though rock and metal tends to be my favorite. I play the drums (meaning drumset, but I also played percussion in school and was on the drumline). I like to read books, fantasy being my favorite genre. I grew up in Minnesota and moved to Georgia the summer before I started High School. I have completed my first year of college at BYU, and am now preparing to serve as a missionary in the France Lyon mission. I grew up in an LDS family with three brothers and one sister. We're a pretty tight bunch, and we love to go boating, joke around, play video games, and do other fun stuff together. Even now that we're adults and living in different places, we do our best to stay in touch and hang out whenever we can. My parents are awesome too.

Why I am a Mormon

Despite growing up as a member of the LDS church, it was not until recent years that I truly had a firm belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father's plan. I had heard so many people talk about the Gospel and seen them live their faith, but I still was unsure in my mind. However, those doubts have been quelled because I have asked God if this was the fully restored Gospel, and he has made it known to me by his Spirit. I have felt and known with a surety that Joseph Smith was called of God to restore the fulness of the Gospel to the Earth, that he translated another testament of Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon, and that we in the Church today have the same truth that Jesus taught when he was here on the Earth. I have seen and experience the happiness that this knowledge can bring to our lives. I am a Mormon not just because this Church makes so much logical sense, but perhaps most importantly because I have felt God's love for me and I know that this Gospel is the truth. Yet despite my knowledge, I still make mistakes. That is why the healing power of Christ's sacrifice is so important, because as long as we are striving with all our souls to do what is right, He will make up the difference.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example to those around me. I am far from perfect, but I do my best to be an example of righteous and happy living to those around me. As a missionary, have the opportunity to preach to and serve people. I am very happy about this opportunity that I have to bring the thing that has made me most happy in this life, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and share it with other people by word and deed. Christ set the perfect example of love and charity, and I hope to be able to emulate that as I serve the people of France.
