Hi I'm Joshua Chew

I was born in Malaysia. I was raised in Wisconsin, USA and in Barnsley, UK and I'm proud to be a Mormon.

About Me

Some hobbies I have are playing the piano, karate classes, exercise classes and badminton. I am currently interested in learning about computer science/engineering. I have had work experience as an I.T. assistant at a Telecommunications and Website design/hosting company.

Why I am a Mormon

When me, my brother and my single mum lived in Wisconsin, USA we were going to different churches and we didn't know which one was the right church for us. Not long after, the missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints came to our door and introduced us to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. From that time on wards we continued to go to this church. I was around 5 years old when we started going. During primary activities (the class we have for children) I remember loving to hear the lessons and singing from the children's songbook. When I started growing up I always believed in what my teachers were telling me, because I have always felt good about what I was hearing and never really doubted anything. There came a point when my family moved to the UK where I needed to know for sure if what I learned about was true. I knelt down and prayed with true intent and sincerity to know if The Book of Mormon is true and if Joseph Smith really was a prophet. After my prayer, I felt a warm comforting peace enter in my heart which I know to be the Holy Ghost. Heavenly Father (God) really did answer my prayer and I knew that this is truly his restored church on the Earth.

How I live my faith

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I am obedient to the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and although I'm not perfect I am so grateful that through the grace that comes from the Atonement of Jesus Christ I can be free from my guilt and sorrow. At church I have participated in callings which involve working and teaching the young men of the church. I have been involved with helping and organising YSA (young single adults) activities.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Joshua Chew
The Savior is central to Heavenly Father's plan for us. The Savior made it possible for us to return back to the presence of our Heavenly by the Atonement. During the Atonement the Savior, Jesus Christ took upon himself all the sins of the world, throughout all of time which caused him great suffering. He also suffered for our infirmities such as our personal sufferings from things such as physical or emotional sickness. He was then crucified and then he was resurrected 3 days later. The Atonement has made it possible for us to have eternal life. We are able to repent and turn towards Christ because of this sacrifice. We can receive forgiveness of our sins when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, repent and obey his commandments. Which means obeying the first principles and ordinances of the gospel.
