Hi I'm Gillian

I grew up in Southern Ohio. I love to laugh. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at The Ohio State University and I love every minute of it. I sing and dance all the time, even though I am not good at either one. I play the piano and make the best mashed potatoes in the world. Seriously. I play soccer and run...not very fast, but I run. I'm studying Human Development and Family Sciences and want to be an Intensive Care Neonatal Nurse when I grow up. I'm currently taking a leave of absence from school however, to serve an 18 month mission in the Japan Nagoya Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy. I have found that living the gospel and following the commandments, though at times may be hard, can bring no greater happiness in my life. There was a time when I wasn't reading my scriptures or praying daily. I didn't think it was important, and put more worldly things higher on my list of priorities. After months of being frustrated with God and questioning why He wasn't answering my prayers I read in Moroni 4:9-10. The last two words struck me; "DO THEM". I realized then, that it wasn't God who wasn't answering me, it was ME who was not listening. I know our Heavenly Father hears and answers each and every one of our prayers, we just have to be living our lives in such a way that we can receive His answers. We cannot just expect answers to come to us, we must put in effort and look for them in everything that we do. Because of this and other experiences, I decided to serve a full time mission and will soon be leaving to serve in the Japan Nagoya Mission. I could not be more excited to serve the people of Japan and spread the one thing that has brought, and will continue to bring, so much happiness in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith on a day to day basis. I strive to keep the commandments that are given, to help protect me from dangers that I may not be aware of. I go to church every Sunday to help remind me of covenants I made at baptism and to strengthen my testimony and faith in Jesus Christ. I read my scriptures daily, and search for answers to questions that I have in my life. I teach with the missionaries to help touch the lives of others and spread the gospel.
