Hi I'm Steve Snow

I grew up in Utah, served a mission in southern Germany and later in the US Army there for 3 years and then majored in music.

About Me

I majored in music, first at the University of Utah, then the Univ. of Oregon, and then the Univ. of Washington. In Seattle I had a part-time job with the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation while attending the university. That then became my full-time job for all of my working career. Nonetheless, music has remained constant in my affection and activities. Thankfully, the church has provided many opportunities to use my musical abilities when work did not. I met my wife in a music theory class, and music has continued to be an important part of our life and of our family's life. We have four sons, two daughters-in-law, four grandsons and finally one granddaughter born in July 2014. Languages also play an important part of my family's life. In addition to speaking French and German, among us all we have also studied Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Spanish, Bulgarian, Hungarian, and Arabic.

Why I am a Mormon

Beyond church activities , however, the gospel infuses my whole life and work. Loving and serving other people is the goal of life, whether it be in my family, church, or work. The gospel also provides the understanding of life necessary to deal with all of its complications and to rise above one's own weaknesses. I know that God lives and shows us how to live and be happy and serve others, and I know that Jesus Christ is our savior. I'm afraid that what I have said might make me sound much better than I am. My life is ordinary and mundane like that of most people, but I have to acknowledge that the underpinning of the gospel brings peace, understanding, and gratitude for life's many opportunities, friends, and experiences, even the hard ones.

How I live my faith

I attend church every week and have done so my whole life. But church activity goes far beyond attendance by serving in youth organizations. teaching classes, helping and visiting members of the congregation, participating in service projects, singing in choirs (sometimes directing them), playing the organ, and so on.
