Hi I'm Ana Barraza

I was born in Kansas and grew up in Idaho. I went to school in Hawaii and hope to one day be a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy baking, sewing, gardening, reading, and drawing. I play the flute and piccolo. I can play other instruments at a very beginning level. I was a music major in college. However when I get back from my mission I think I will switch my major to linguistics or TESOL. I come from a large blended family. I have eight siblings, nine aunts/uncles, and I don't know how many cousins.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. I didn't really have a testimony until I left for college. I thought I believed but wasn't really sure until I had to decide for myself rather than lean on my parents' testimony. During my senior year of high school and the summer before I left, my uncle's family and grandfather joined the church. Going though the missionary lessons with them and that whole experience really helped me. I know the church is true and that the plan of salvation is true. We can be sealed to our family for eternity. Christ is my savior. He died on the cross and was resurrected so that we could return home.

How I live my faith

I have had few callings. I was a counselor in the young women's program before I graduated high school. I helped plan youth activities such as cleaning up a stretch of highway or learning to make candy. I was a visiting teacher during my freshman year of college. My roommate and I visited two other girls on campus. We brought them cookies and asked how they were doing. I took a genealogy class in church and now work on family history with my grandmother. I am currently a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and have been called to serve the people of Japan.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Ana Barraza
Mormons are not required to serve missions. We are encouraged to serve missions. Each member makes the decision to serve or not themselves. Show more Show less
