Hi I'm Porter

I grew up in Topeka, Kansas. I am a student, runner, and musician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a busy household of seven, with three brothers and a sister. I recently graduated high school and plan on attending Brigham Young University when I return from serving a 2-year mission. My hobbies include reading, sports (particularly running), water skiing and wake boarding, and music (I am a pianist).

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because, more than anything else, I have felt that this is indeed Christ's Church upon the earth. I believe in the Restoration of the Gospel, and I know that we have a living prophet in Thomas S. Monson who leads and guides us in these latter days. I know that, through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, our families can be together eternally. Perhaps more than anything, that simple fact perpetually brings sweet joy into my life.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the Church for my entire life, and I have had plentiful opportunities to participate in my local ward. When I was a member of the Young Men's program, I had the opportunity to serve as the president of various groups of young men. In this regard, I sought to help them draw closer to Christ through prayer and diligent study of the scriptures. Furthermore, I planned weekly activities which would help us draw closer together as a group of youth. I have also been able to participate in the home teaching program of our Church, which enables members like myself to visit other families and help strengthen their faith and ease their needs.
