Hi I'm Colleen

I am a grandmother and a writer. I taught special education. I like to travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I came from a large family and have had a large family - its the best! I play the piano and love to sing. I also write poetry and nonfiction books and family histories. Seven years of my life were spent working in special education. I finished my college coursework after age 60.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, but I am a Mormon because I want to be. All my life I have felt the sweet spirit of the Holy Ghost - when I was baptized at age 8, and throughout my life as I attended Mormon meetings. It is my life blood, and I love it with all my heart! I feel it is the true gospel of Christ. It teaches me to pray, to read the scriptures, to strive to always love others and become a better person. It gives me numerous opportunities to serve others in my congregation. It helps me to become a more holy and refined person, to strive to become more like Jesus Christ. I know it is true.

How I live my faith

I play organ or piano for our church congregation and children's organization. Every month I visit a few ladies in the church to see how they are doing. I also work in the beautiful Salt Lake Temple twice a week. Participating in church activities is very inspiring for me, and I feel the Lord's spirit and guidance as I attend church.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Colleen
The church gives meaning and purpose to people's lives. It provides a strong moral compass to keep our families united and happy. It helps us to know what is right and what is wrong. It is a iron rod to hold onto in the trials, temptations, and storms of life. It gives us wonderful opportunities to serve others and to use our time wisely to bless our own lives and the lives of others. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Colleen
God wants us to keep our minds clear so that we can feel his Spirit. He wants us to be in control of our minds and bodies at all times. This is why we avoid harmful substances. Our body is a gift which we need to take care of. To me, it shows just how much our Father in Heaven cares about us, that he would give us these laws, just like a loving earthly parent would do for their children. Show more Show less
