Hi I'm Bryce Skankey

I am a military brat. I'm a geek and a nerd. I am a son, brother, and husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have moved 8 times or so due to the military. I've had to say 'see you later' to many friends. In the end, there were only two things in my life that remained constant. One was my family, and the other was my faith. I love my family, they are my greatest supporters. Most of who I am today can be traced back to the influence of all of my family. I love my faith, it has given me strength to change my life around. Even though I was a member, I had many problems that kept keeping me from being happy. It took a long time, but I can testify that through the atonement of Christ, anyone can overcome anything that is keeping them from being happy. I am currently a college student. I am studying Japanese, hoping to get into a career which will allow me to interact with the Japanese people. After spending 5 years in Japan, I have grown to love the land, the people, and the culture. In my junior year I met, courted, and married my wife. She is such an inspiration in my life, and she helps me become the person God wants me to be.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. The church has influenced my life since before I could remember. This doesn't mean I just followed the crowd and did what everyone else around me was doing. In my many schools I was usually one of a few members of the church. It could have been easy to stop being active. I decided for myself to follow Christ. I am not perfect. I am nowhere close to that. I had many hard things in my life that kept me from reaching my potential. It took patient parents, insightful leaders, and most importantly my willing heart, to change my life so that it was more closely in accordance with the teachings of Christ. I'm still working on it, all of my problems, but I know that my Heavenly Father will help me. He will guide me to what I need to do.

How I live my faith

First and foremost I try my best to smile to everyone who I interact with. I feel like that is a small but powerful action we can do to show the love that God has for everyone. The Gospel of Christ helps us be happy, so why not share that happiness with a smile. I try to read the word of God daily. I talk with Him daily through prayer. Within the church my wife and I teach the 3 year old children. It is fun being able to go to the very basic aspects of the Gospel of Christ and help the kids understand it. They are very innocent, and I have a better understanding of what God meant when he wants to become like little children.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Bryce Skankey
As a kid I was enthralled with space. I loved seeing the new pictures that were coming from the Hubble Space Telescope. I loved seeing distant stars, nebulae, and galaxies. Some think that seeing the expanse of the universe is a faith-killer. I personally found it to be a faith builder. I loved being able to see the wonders which God has created. All things on this earth and in the universe denote that there is a creator. Show more Show less
