Hi I'm Chuer Zhong

I was born and raised in China. I love my life and my family. I'm a student at Brigham Young University-Hawaii, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My Chinese name is Chuer Zhong, which my parents hope me to be wise and see me as a precious gift, and my English name is Vic, which I picked from a French movie. I was born in a lovely family, my parents are my good examples and all they are doing are teaching me how to be a better person. I have one younger brother, and all of my family members are the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I and my family joined the church in 2007, before when we did not have any other religious background at all. I am so grateful that I could get know about this church and could join the Church when I was exactly a Young Women age. Because of that, I started my gospel learning from a young woman until now I am a member of Relief society. I have lots of hobbies, listening to music, watching movies, shopping, cooking, and staying with my funny dad. My favorite music groups are Bee Gees, Air supply and Bread; I just like their music without why. I love adventure and every period in my life just makes me feel excited.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know about the gospel is true and want to exercise faith in my life. I had never thought that I could be blessed like who I am now before; with good desires to live and study normally was my pursuit. Well, I mean it is still my pursuit, but I want to be more like Christ, see how I can make differences in others’ lives, and help them know about the truth. I am a Mormon, because I know we are all the children of God, our eternal Father, and as I grow up, I have been blessed by Him in many aspects in my life. Because of that, I want to use my whole life to be an instrument of Him, help Him even though I am not perfect. Therefore, I decided to be a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been called to serve in Oakland, California mission; I have been assigned to serve in the Temple Visitors’ Center and will use Cantonese to preach the gospel. I am very proud of my identity as a Mormon, and I know my family members too. Before I will report to the Provo Missionary Training Center soon, I am still preparing and studying at BYUH. I do know the gospel will be known by all the children of Heavenly Father someday, and I am excited for it.

How I live my faith

The time I joined the Church, there were not too many members in a branch in China. When I was in Young Women, every time we had class, I always got president, first counselor, and second counselor teaching me since I was the only one young woman in our branch that time. As I have shared with many of people before, since I thought my family was good enough for me, I did not pay attention to the teaching of our Church that “families can be together forever” at first. However, as time went by, I have found that a family which is good is not enough for me; we need to be together forever. Since we all have our business or study need to take care, my family members are always in different places; while my parents are doing their business, I and my younger brother were in boarding schools. Even though those kinds of experience make us more independent, I was still looking forward to every weekend that I can spend my time with my family. Afterward, while I am growing up, I realize that families need to be strengthened. Even though we do not have seminary class every day in a classroom, but we do have online seminary every morning; even though there still have some limitations back home for us to hold lots of activities, we do have annual Youth Conference, which helps me a lot, give me desires to get higher education and to serve.
