Hi I'm John

I am a member of an organization that is led and directed by the Lord Jesus Christ.

About Me

I am a businessman who is the great grandson, grandson and son of a businessman. I share the vocation and the religion of my family. I worked in my fathers business since I was a boy and in doing so I gained a prospective of human nature. I have had the opportunity to attend and graduate university, serve four years in the military and pursue and achieve the American Dream. I am 68 years old but have no desire to retire because for me my 'work" is also my entertainment.

Why I am a Mormon

Mormons state that God the Father and Jesus Christ are living and functioning beings. I believe that is true. The organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the same today as it was organized by the Lord Jesus Christ. I have found out for myself that what my forebears believed is true. I am a Mormon Boy because I have learned that I am a child of God.

How I live my faith

Religion and faith to me is practicing behavior that brings out the best in me such that can interact with my fellow man to rally on common ground. We are all living in what we call mortality with all it's challenges. I see men and women who are happy and I want to associate with them. My personal study of scripture brings to me a very personal witness of the beauty and simplicity of the gospel given me from our Father in Heaven. I attend church regularly not because I am pious but because I need to renew my faith after a week of exposure to the world as it is. My great grandfather told me in his personal journal that it was OK to borrow his faith but that I should go ahead and establish my own.

What is the Book of Mormon?

John
The Book of Mormon is in effect a history of an ancient people and their interaction with one another and with the Lord Jesus Christ. To me it is interesting to observe people and their actions when they are subjected to the forces of good and evil. Just as people of today they had their free agency to make choices for themselves and were subject to the consequences of those decisions. The book illustrates the results of behavior outside and inside the guidelines of the commandments given to man by God. The time period was different but the influences were just the same. If we do not learn from history we are destined to repeat it. True happiness comes from obedience to the guidelines given us from our Father in Heaven which are found within the Book of Mormon.
