Hi I'm Nord Halls

I'm a husband, a father, and a grandfather. I'm also a Mormon

About Me

I am the last of 6 children and was born in a log cabin in Star Valley Wyoming. It was a farming community. I developed good work ethics by following the examples of my parents. I served a mission for the Mormon Church in New Zealand for 2 years. I have been married for 47 years and have 4 sons and 3 daughters and have 19 grandchildren. Two of my sons have served missions and three have graduated with university degrees. Two daughters have also received university degrees. Two grandsons have served missions with one presently serving in Brazil. I was a police officer for nearly 30 years and retired several years ago. I have served in many capacities in the Mormon Church over the years and that service has blessed not only myself but has resulted in my family being close one to another and actively seeking to live the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon. My father was inactive but my mother was very faithful and as a result she influenced me into living the principles taught by the Savior. As a young adult sitting down to read The Book of Mormon I found that I could not set it aside. I completed it in 3 days. My heart burned within me as I came to realize with certainty that one could read and ask God for a witness of its truth and that it would be given. That changed my life forever. I then had sure knowledge that the Mormon Church is in fact the true restored gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth, complete with the power and authority of the holy priesthood and that living prophets are once again on the earth like unto days in history past. I have the assurance that because God our Heavenly Father loves us and wants all of us to eventually return to be with him once again, He gave his Only Begotten Son who suffered temptations but gave no heed unto them and was crucified, died, and rose again the third day and that as many as would believe and be baptized in his holy name, and endure in faith to the end, should be saved. I believe these things with all my heart and feel the love that the Savior has distilled in my family’s lives and my life as the Holy Spirit has influenced our family for good and given us protective care.

How I live my faith

The Mormon faith is family oriented and requires real effort to stay focused on the concept of having an eternal family. This means remaining true to the covenants made in the holy temples and teaching by example to all, especially our children and grandchildren. I have participated in many responsibilities when asked to participate. Service in the Mormon faith is paramount to rendering service to God. We all have opportunity in the church to render service in many different ways so that we can help our fellow travelers in this life and hopefully become a ‘Good Samaritan” in all our daily experiences. There truly is wisdom in the scripture “…Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” My family and I have been blessed by the selfless service of others and it makes me acutely aware that each of us on this planet needs the help of each other so that our burdens can be lightened. I am eternally grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ that makes it possible to return to the presence of God as we adhere to the principles and the ordinances of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
