Hi I'm Kimberly

I'm a nursing student and a lover of travel. I love the outdoors and anything under the stars. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Kimberly! I'm the third oldest in a family of 7 kids, and grew up in a small town of Central Utah. My parents wanted their children to learn how to work, so from a young age we had an assortment of farm animals that we raised on our little bit of property. I was the keeper of the chickens, and also spent a lot of time taming the wild cats that would come to live on our farm. I'm also a lover of anything outdoors. One of my favorite views is a clear night out in the country and away from any lights. I love to see the stars! Although I really could only point out the big dipper and Orian's belt, I still really love being out under the stars. I love to hike, canoe, run, play soccer, and really anything else that will let me be out in the open. I'm currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We serve in a specific country or state for 18 months, teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and inviting people to learn more about the restored Gospel. I've served for 10 months in San Diego California and have loved the experience! I'm teaching in Spanish, which is an awesome blessing. Spanish culture is great, and I want to use the language for the rest of my life! I hope to be able to use in it work, but I love that I'll be able to speak to people that surrounded me growing up that were only separated from me by a language barrier!

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a Mormon all my life. Although I was born in to a Mormon family, I've learned for myself that the teachings of this Church are true. I love being a Mormon! I love believing in a loving Heavenly Father. I love believing in a God who is personal, a God who listens to every prayer as if that prayer was the only one given (out of the billions of prayers given all over the world). I know God lives, and I know that I can have a personal relationship with him as an individual. I was taught growing up that "I am a child of God". I'm Mormon because the more I follow the teachings of our church and the teachings of the Prophets, the closer I feel to God. It makes me happy, and I can feel that it's true. I think people can know a lot of things by studying and research; but there is something much more motivating when you can feel that something is true. You can know something both in your mind and in your heart. I know God lives and I know Christ lives.

How I live my faith

For the past year I have had the opportunity to be a full-time missionary in San Diego, California! I still get to be out here for another 6 months. I've had the awesome opportunity to teach people about our beliefs in God and our purpose in this life. I think what keeps me moving forward with missionary work is when I see lives changing for the better. I see people putting their trust in God, and becoming happier because of it! I've felt the same happiness as I've put my trust in God and in the plan that he has for us. I try to look 'through heaven's eyes' every day, especially in noticing the small and simple things that show us there is a God. I've also had the chance to serve in my community ward (congregation) by serving in positions we name "callings". Some of my callings have included nursery teacher, young woman group leader, and family history consultant. It's pretty fun! I try to live what I'm learning as well. I think the greatest test of our faith is if we live what we believe.
