Hi I'm Khalid

I'm from New Zealand, I'm a baseball-playing Kiwi, I'm serving the Lord in Canada, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the beautiful country of New Zealand. I'm the middle child of five; three sisters and one brother. Ever since I was young, I loved sports. Basketball, Rugby, Cricket, Football, Volleyball, you name it. Growing up, I found my passion in Softball and Baseball. I've been lucky enough to represent New Zealand in both sports and I'm grateful for the experiences I've had and the people I've met. I love music; it helps me take a step back from life for just that little moment. And if that doesn't work, then catching up with friends and laughing uncontrollably usually helps.

Why I am a Mormon

First things first: Being a Mormon is the best! It's my life, it's what I live for and it's what I love with all my heart. I had the real blessing of being raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by loving and faithful parents. I know they are a big reason that I'm still active in the Church; their example to me has helped me so much. But...I knew that I needed to know for myself if being a Mormon was what I wanted to be. I often get asked why I'm a Mormon, and the reason is because it makes me happy. I've never experienced more joy and happiness in my life than in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm so grateful to know what I know. The gospel gives me the answers I need in life. To know that we have a Heavenly Father who knows us personally and wants us to be eternally happy brings me so much comfort. He is there for us and He wants us to reach out to Him and feel of His love for us. I know that He has a plan for us, and that He sent His son Jesus Christ so that we can follow his perfect example. I know that life is hard, but if I do my best to live how He wants me to live, I know we can be happy.

How I live my faith

I try my best to live my faith in everything I do. I truly believe that 'practice makes perfect'. If I continually strive to make the right choices every day, then hopefully I can stay strong in the faith. Daily prayers and scripture study help me to have the Spirit with me throughout the day which makes it a little easier to choose the good from the bad. I have found in my life that when you put the Lord first, everything else falls into place. Deciding to forgo many amazing opportunities in my sporting codes to serve a mission has been a great sacrifice but I know that choosing to serve the Lord will bless me and my family, as well as other families who are waiting to receive the restored gospel. I also try my best to be an example to others. Whether it's staying strong to my standards, giving service or just being nice to everyone, I always try to represent myself in a way that reflects what kind of person I'm trying to become.
