Hi I'm Gwen Schwieder

I'm just a normal average person living an average life. I love teaching children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of 6 adult children and grandmother of 21. I have been an adult leader in several youth organizations including performing arts organizations, religious organizations and community youth groups. I have organized and taught 4-H classes for 30 years, teaching children ages 8 to 16 how to cook, sew, do crafts, make model rockets, collect bugs and paint pictures among many other things. I love to learn and take classes. I hope to continue learning and teaching children all my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Jesus loved children. He said "Let the Children come unto me". Jesus Christ is my exemplar and guide. I love Christ. I hope to learn to love as he did. I am a Mormon because I believe this to be His church and I am trying to be the kind of person He wants me to be. This church teaches how important families and children are. This church shows just how much God loves his children - all of us.

How I live my faith

There are children and youth all around us who need a helping hand, a friend, and an advocate. Reaching out to children, inviting them into my classes and into my home, helping them to learn new skills, helping them learn to have confidence in themselves, that is how I live my faith. There is a lot of joy in seeing a child struggle to learn and succeed. I love to help a child make something they can be proud of whether it be a fancy casserole, a wonderful piece of artwork or the most magnificent butterfly display. Children are such wonderful people!
