Hi I'm Derek Rappleye

I grew up in Utah. I wish to write fantasy novels for a living. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to be active and outdoors. I wish to be a fantasy writer for a career. I plan on going to college and gain a degree in English and/or creative writing. I will be serving a mission in New Hampshire, Manchester.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and grew up in a Mormon family and household but was told time and time again that I was allowed to question the LDS faith and seek answers to those questions. I know that if I leave the LDS Church my parents will still love me. That is comforting to know and very reassuring on how important agency is to this church. And over the years I have had my doubts, who doesn't? But it depends on how you deal with those doubts that really affects your testimony.

How I live my faith

I live to the standards expected of me and I am not afraid of who will mock me. I ask all my acquaintances to not swear or tell off colored jokes around me. I freely bear my testimony when I am given the chance. I strive to read the scriptures everyday for I know that is what protects me from the fiery darts of the adversary.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Derek Rappleye
Jesus Christ felt the pain of all beings that have lived and will live upon this earth. All of their pains, afflictions, sins, sorrows and troubles. There is no way that He could've endured through this pain unless He was the actual Son of God. Without this selfless act... we would have no way to return to the presence of our Father in Heaven. This act paved the path for us to take on our own. We are free to choose this path if we wish but after knowing what Jesus Christ went through to make that path available to us... could you really turn away? I also believe that he didn't just bleed for us and it was all over after his resurrection but that he still bleeds for us. As you undergo you trials in life He is right there feeling your sorrow, grief and pain. Show more Show less
