Hi I'm Whitley Brooke Garland

I grew up in Florida. Currently living in Provo. I am preparing to serve a mission in Uruguay Montevideo. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years old and I am living the amazing life in Provo, Utah. I have 4 siblings. I am majoring in Social Science Education and plan to become a high school US History teacher. I am not in school, but I am spending my time working and preparing to serve the Lord in Uruguay Montevideo and will report to the Argentina MTC in November.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because it brings me deep and true joy. I feel the love of Christ in my life daily and knowing that I will be with my family forever it the most consoling portion of the church for me. I know that Joseph Smith brought back Christ's true gospel and this is it. The LDS doctrine is the true doctrine of Christ. I know this because it has been revealed unto me through prayer. I love this gospel because I am able to receive answers to what I am looking for and I am easily comforted through the spirit. Personal revelation is real and I have received it. Because of my feelings of deep love for this Gospel and Christ I made the decision to serve the Lord and bring my brothers and sisters unto Christ through conversion and love. I want others to feel the true joy that I feel by being a member of this true church.

How I live my faith

I am currently in a Provo Young Singles Adult Ward. I have an amazing ward family and live my faith by loving and serving them. I someday want to be a ward teacher for the youth.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Whitley Brooke Garland
We are brought to this Earth as part of Heavenly Father's plan so that we can live with him again after physical death. We come to Earth to gain experiences to help us learn to become like Christ and find the way to live with our Father again. We also come to Earth to receive a physical body, make choices, and form a family. All of these things are vital to have eternal lives with our Heavenly Father and Christ. Show more Show less

Where did Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begin?

Whitley Brooke Garland
During a time when there were many different churches in America there was a boy Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith prayed when he was 14 years old, looking for an answer to find out which church was the true church. He received his answer in a vision when Christ and Heavenly Father appeared to him. Christ told him that none of the churches were true and that Joseph was the man who would bring back the true doctrine of Christ to the Earth in these last days. Joseph received the power and authority to bring back and organize true church and spread it around the Earth. Joseph was also given scripture comparable to the bible. These scriptures are called The Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon follows Christ's disciples in ancient America. Joseph was given these scriptures and translated them for the world. Joseph was later killed by an angry mob, but implanted deep roots for the church. Even in his murder, the church continued to live on and grow around the world. Show more Show less
