Hi I'm Katy

I was born in California. I love to read and write. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! My name is Katy and I am 18 years old. I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and it is the best thing in my life. I have two older brothers and a niece and nephew that I love. I love music and I play the Clarinet and am learning how to play the piano. I love reading and I hope to be a writer one day. I am going to be a freshman in collage this coming fall and I am excited and nervous at the same time. I am majoring in English. I like to swim, hike, and practice archery. I hope to get married and be a mother some day, but right now I am not ready for that, so right now I am spending my time preparing to be a good wife and mother. And I look forward to a long and happy life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am young compared to many, but I have a testimony as strong as anyone's. I follow the teachings and principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because they make me happy and like everybody else I want to be happy. When I read the scriptures I am happy. When I pray I am happy. When I serve others I am happy. When I keep my mind and body clean I am happy. This is Christ's church on the earth today. It is lead by Christ through his mouthpieces the prophets and apostles and they hold the same power and authority that Christ held when he was on the earth. I know that one day Christ will return and that day will be a day of rejoicing. I know that I want to follow Christ and I want to live the type of life that he lived and I want to one day return and live with him and my Father in Heaven again.

How I live my faith

I love this church and Love to serve the people in it. I am currently a den leader in the Cub Scout program and even though I just started I love it and I love the three boys that i get to work with. I also love to spend time with the missionaries. I want to one day serve and mission and these wonderful people are helping me prepare for a mission and they have become my best friends. Most of them are around my age and they have the same beliefs and values that I have. They are the best people I know. However I am just beginning. I look forward to serving more in the church as I grow and learn more in the upcoming years.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the same church that Christ organized when he was on the earth. Today it is still the same and it is still lead by Christ. The prophets and apostles are his servants and they act as his mouthpiece. Through them we have the actual words of God. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No, it is not required for members to serve a full time mission. However many members do choose to serve one, but it is because it is their choice and its what they want to do, not because they have to. Show more Show less
