Hi I'm Denise W. Anderson

Hi. I am a writer, teacher, musician, wife, mother, grandmother, and have a mental illness. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I currently work as an office manager. On the side, I write and teach. I help people of all ages make positive choices in their lives by teaching them life skills and principles that bring them peace and happiness. I have a website, blog, and articles that I publish as part of my mission. I have an Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology and was a School Psychologist for six years. I have struggled with mental illness for the past twenty years. Depression and Anxiety are my current diagnoses. I see a counselor regularly, and that has helped me to deal with difficulties that I have faced in my life. One of the things that has helped me the most is talking with others about emotional health and helping them to learn things that can bring them peace and happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon. My birth community was 97% LDS, a small farming community. It wasn't until I went to college that I began to question what I really believed and why. I drank in every word at the church devotionals I attended, and studied the Book of Mormon with fervor. I came to know for myself that it is the word of God, that Jesus lives, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. You can find out for yourself, just like I did.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day. I pray for guidance, read the scriptures, and live by the Spirit. My children are mostly grown and gone, but we keep in touch. My faith is that one day, I will see the Savior again. We live close to the temple and I enjoy going there. It gives me peace and I feel close to the Savior. My position in the church allows me to spend time with the full-time missionaries, and I enjoy bearing testimony of the gospel when I am with them. I like to help others.
