Hi I'm Andee Shelton

I'm a ordinary girl from Arizona living a dream at Brigham Young University. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the blistering, but beautiful desert, also known as, Arizona. I am the oldest of five children, with two incredible patient parents. Right now my goal in life is to, enjoy. Yes, being a college student living on your own can be stressful and it has most definitely taught me the definition of being responsible but, it is also a time where I should be making the most of it. I have seen every movie known to man. Nothing makes me happier than a bean & cheese burritos, Reeses, or pazookies. I can sit on Pinterest for hours. And nothing is better than a good shopping trip. Growing up sports was a big part of my life. I played volleyball, basketball, and ran hurdles in track and field where I continued that at Brigham Young University for two years before a injury took over. I am now a Junior at BYU studying Psychology to eventually become an Occupational Therapist. I plan to specialize working in schools with children with disabilities. They have always held such a special place in my heart and I can't wait to have a career to be able to make a difference in their lives. Right now in life I wouldn't plan or wish to be anywhere different. The gospel of Jesus Christ is what defines me. Growing up in school I had the same dislikes, likes and participated in everything just like my classmates but everyone knew I was different. Everyone knew that I was the Mormon and wondered why I was so strong in my faith. The gospel is really what defines me.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon has made such a special impact on my life. I couldn't imagine a life without it. It brings so much happiness. With it I am scared of so much less because I know that there is eternal happiness at the end of this short time on Earth. Without the knowledge of the Atonement I don't think I could have much hope. It is everything. For Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins shows that he loves us more than we can ever know or appreciate. It proves that he wants all of us to return with him. He knows we are going to mess up in life. It happens. That is why forgiveness is beautiful. It allows us to get another try. It is not just three strikes and you're out; as it states in the scriptures he will forgive us 70 x 7. His love is endless. And not only do we get to return to our Heavenly Father but also with our families here on Earth. To have the temples is such an a incredible blessing. It makes me realize that this is not the end of our life. The ones that we lose on this Earth will be soon enough reunited with us for all of eternity and for everyone to have that opportunity is truly incredible. The gospel of Jesus Christ is true. It helps you recognize what is really important in this life. It brings a special light to individuals. I have so much hope, as I am prepared to meet my loving Father in Heaven and return with my family for all eternity.

How I live my faith

Growing up in my home we had a family motto. It stated: S trong H onarable E xtarodainary L oving T ruthful O bedient N oble My dad taught us that we represent the Shelton name. Anywhere we go and anything we do people recognize that and it has an affect on how people view not only me but, my family as well. This is just like the gospel. Many of you probably have seen on homes the sign that states, "Return with Honor." Well at the time of the Second Coming I want to be able to do that. When I was 15 years old I was on a plane coming home from a church camp (Especially For Youth). The lady sitting next to me asked about the wristband I was wearing and I explained to her about how I went to EFY for a week. She told me she wasn't Mormon but she knew about us and how we were going to change the world for the better. That is when it hit me. People know who we are. When we sin people notice. When we do good people notice. I realized that not only my Heavenly Father is watching me but also the people I surround myself with. From then on I have been determined to be the best person I can be. I try everyday to be Christlike as I try to serve others, keep my covenants in the gospel, and be a missionary to those who seek that light. I know that I am not perfect and I fall and make mistakes but I know if I keep trying at the time of the Second Coming I can then "Return With Honor" to my loving Father in Heaven.
