Hi I'm Kathy Berger

My parents belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and so I was baptized when I turned 8 years old.

About Me

I have six siblings, three sisters and three brothers. I met my husband at college and we have been married 45 years. We have six daughters and one son. I got to be a stay at home mom until my son (the caboose) went to 1st grade. I worked for the Church f Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints working in the Facilities Management departments for 22+ years. My husband and I have just retired.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member all of my life, but I had to be converted. Sometimes I think it is a little harder for us whose parents are members of the Church, and we are baptized when we turned 8. We may or may not understand the commitment that we are making. So down the road of life we go and we come to a crossroad in our life and we have to decide if we truly believe all the things that we have been taught all our lives. That happened to me. I did all the things I was suppose to do, but then I came to the crossroads. I had just graduated from high school and had been off playing with my friends. My dad was in a very serious farming accident. They had flown him to a Regional Hospital. They didn't let my mother go with them as they didn't think he would make it to the hospital. Living in a small farming community it wasn't long before our house was full of neighbors coming to see if they could help or give support. They were saying that if might be better if my father passed away, that he would just be a vegetable if he lived. I went upstairs for the first time in my life I really prayed. Oh I had prayed a lot in my life, but this was the first time that I truly talked to my Father in Heaven. I told him I needed my dad, all of a sudden I had such a calm peaceful feeling, I knew my dad would be okay, but I also knew something else, I knew God heard my prayer. That started my relationship with my Father in Heaven and my testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

How I live my faith

I have participated all my life in the Church. I have taught children, youth and even the adults. Since I really enjoy teaching, I feel that the teacher always learns more than the students, I have grown in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and his teaching. So with knowledge has come the desire to live as the Savior would want me to...to act as Christ would want me to and to develop Christ like attributes in myself. It really is progress in motion, it takes a life time!

What is the Book of Mormon?

Kathy Berger
The Book of Mormon is a book written by prophets who lived on the American Continents. It just makes sense that God loves all his people, so he would send prophets to all people to teach them the things that they needed to do to be able to return and live with God again. Show more Show less
