Hi I'm Gordon

I grew up on a farm in northern Utah. We moved to the Salt Lake City area when I was about 10. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My first 10 years was on a farm in northern Utah. Most of the families in my town were relatives. My dad taught high school until the family outgrew the paycheck. He got a new job in Salt Lake City and we moved to Magna at that time. After graduation from high school I attended Brigham Young University, both before and after my young mission to Texas, USA. I am a retired tax accountant.

Why I am a Mormon

I became LDS because I grew up in the church with active LDS parents. I have continued to be active and involved because of my personal scripture study, prayer, and a revealed testimony of it's truth. It is a joy and a pleasure to serve the Savior in any way I can. I realize my own imperfections and know of the Savior's love for me in spite of all that. I accept the atonement of Jesus Christ and try daily to apply it in my life.

How I live my faith

I have always tried to be active in my community by holding elected office and being involved with community service. In the LDS church I have served as the bishop of a local congregation organizing church volunteers, activities, and planning and reviewing budgets. I have worked with the Boy Scouts of America program as well as the church youth program. I have also taught church classes at all levels from 7 year old children to adults. Since my retirement my wife and I have served church missions in South Dakota USA, the Philippines, here from home in Salt Lake City, and we are preparing to leave shortly for Melbourne Australia.
