Hi I'm Christine

I have a degree in computer animation and am currently serving a mission in Iowa. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated with an associates in computer animation. I started working on my Emergency Medical Technician(EMT) certification before I left for my mission. I was a camp counselor for a boy scout camp, as a rifle and archery instructor. I love costuming, and frequently dressed up to go to conventions. I'm the oldest of four kids, and am frequently the mother hen of the brood when my mother is busy. It's a habit that's translated into the rest of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the church, but I relied largely on my parent's testimony for many years. As a teen, I came to the realization that I needed to decide for myself whether or not this was something I wanted to keep going with- do I really believe that this is Christ's true church? I believed there was a God- believing that there wasn't was unfathomable- but I wasn't sure that He loved me specifically, or if He cared at all. With so much bad in the world, even so much bad so close to home, I could understand and empathize with the feeling that maybe that was untrue. But two things really helped me come to that understanding for myself- John 7:17 explains that if you do the work, you'll know whether or not if this was true. So if I tried, really tried, to apply the things that they talked about every Sunday in my life, I would know if Christ, and His church, was true. The second was something that gave me hope; my grandfather used to say, 'even if it's not true, it's a darn good way to live.' So even if it wasn't right, doing good things, improving myself, would bring me to a happier state of living. If the church wasn't true, so be it, and I would keep looking for the truth. I found my testimony of these concepts- taking care of your body and mind, doing good unto others, being patient and long suffering- growing. If John 7 was true, perhaps the invitation of James 1:5 was too. If any of you lack wisdom, ask God. I certainly lacked wisdom, but I knew how to pray. And I've done a lot of praying over the years, but it was always the ones I made sincerely, with true intent(as opposed to rote droning that lacked my heart in it), that I got any kind of response. The Church is true. God is the same as he was yesterday, today, and forever. If he called prophets in the past, prophets would be called again. If he required work and sacrifice and unwavering dedication to Him then, he would now. He is not a passive, go with the flow God. Pray about it.

How I live my faith

I have served as the youth leader of several of my young women's classes, and am now serving a full time mission. I'll be dedicating eighteen months to sharing God's plan for us with whoever I come across.
