Hi I'm Mike Egan

I grew up on a farm in southern Idaho. Later worked in the mining industry. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm in Southern Idaho. Graduated from college in 1979, and have been employed in the gold mining industry in northern Nevada. My wife and I have three sons who are active in the church. I enjoy the outdoors especially hunting and snowmobiling and camping. I have served in many position in the Boy Scouts and have enjoyed working with the youth.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons. Mainly the belief that families are the basis for a good society and the fact that they can live together on the other side after we experience temporal death. I am a big fan of the plan of salvation, or stated simply that we lived with Heavenly Father when we were spirits. Then we came to earth to receive a body and to be tested here on the Earth. If we live good and faithful lives then we will continue on to heaven. None of this possible without Jesus Christ and the fact that he came to earth, preached the gospel, was crucified, and died for all of our sins and was atoned . It is now our duty to repent of our sins and be baptized when worthy and live righteous so we can return to heaven and be able to live eternal lives their. I am a Mormon because I know that Christ lives, that the gospel was restored here on the Earth and that there is a living prophet here on the Earth today. I was born into the church but went through a conversion process in my late teens that gave me a solid testimony of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have served in many church callings and have worked with the youth groups in our ward units for many years. These were the most memorable of my service in the church. I also served in various positions in Boy Scouts and hopefully strengthened some of their testimonies and had a lot fun also. I served in the bishopric in our ward for about six years which was very fulfilling and was on the high council for a while which was great to get to know members of the stake. The best way of living my faith was being sealed to my wonderful wife, and the opportunity to baptize my three sons when they turned eight years old. I have had some wonderful and fulfilling experiences with inactive members that I have had the opportunity to go home teaching to.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Mike Egan
By prayer to ask for help and and to give thanks for blessings that we have. Read the scriptures daily and ponder these things in your heart, and also read the talks and testimonies of the present Prophet and apostles. As we live the commandments we will draw closer to the Lord and increase our testimony of Him and his plan for us to follow. Show more Show less
