Hi I'm Brent

I grew up in California. I'm a linguist and an ESL teacher. I love music. I'm a Mozzer and a suedehead. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a linguist, more specifically a forensic linguist. I also teach ESL. I love being with my family. I am married, though no children yet. I love Oreos and milk, chocolate and peanut butter ice cream, and pizza. My wife is the best cook I know, and I'm thrilled about it. I have a passion for meaningful, poetic, and forward-thinking music, especially by bands like The Smiths, Morrissey, and Radiohead. I also have a strong interest in fashion. I enjoy expressing my creativity through what I wear and how I look. I secretly wish I were an image consultant, so I could make people look and feel beautiful in their own unique way. Lastly, I also care about being informed with what's going on in the world and about making a difference while we're here.

Why I am a Mormon

As a kid, I was a Mormon because my parents raised me to be one. When I was a teenager, I was a Mormon because I felt like it was the right thing to do and I had great group of friends who felt the same way. I'm still a Mormon now because I have gained a personal testimony that God lives and that Jesus is the Savior of my soul. I've had many undeniable experiences with a divine force that pours out upon my mind and soul peace, love, and pure intelligence that seemingly came from nowhere. The consistency and power of these experiences has strengthened my convictions that God is real, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true.

How I live my faith

I love my Savior Jesus Christ. It's primarily for this reason that I keep going to church and serving in my local congregation. I served as a missionary for two years in Denmark and have served in several other ways throughout my life. Right now, I am a counselor to the president of the men's organization in the congregation. I help him make decisions about how to instruct, strengthen, and motivate the men to be good husbands and fathers and responsible citizens in the community.
