Hi I'm Spencer Brown

I was raised in Saratoga Springs, UT. I am currently serving as a full time missionary in Alberta, Canada and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I was raised by a single mom in Saratoga Springs. My parents got divorced when I was 4 years old. At that point we moved from Lehi, UT to Saratoga Springs, UT. I love sports. In fact, I love competition in general. I believe that team sports can teach us so much about ourselves and life. I attended Utah State University where I was studying for a Business Management degree for a semester before heading out on a mission to Alberta, Canada from Jan. 2013- Jan. 2015. I also love the outdoors and pretty much anything that gets your heart pumping. Whether it is snowboarding, boating, ATVs, hiking or just about anything else. I love the beauty of this world and my goal is to travel to every continent.

Why I am a Mormon

I am part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because, simply, I know it to be the Lord's church restored through a Prophet. I know it with all my heart. How? I have experienced the Holy Ghost confirm it to me many many times. Every time I read the Book of Mormon. Every time I attend church each Sunday. Every time I hear the Prophet speak. Now, I didn't always know this to be true. For most of my high school life I ranged between a "non-practising Mormon" and an Agnostic. At times I wondered if there was even a God and what that meant to me, but most of the time I just lived my life hoping that if there was a God he would overlook my short comings and see the good that I had tried to do. With this mindset I repeatedly found myself lost and struggling. I had no anchor. Nothing to hold me in place against the waves that life throws at us. I now have that anchor. It is in Jesus Christ. Not just in a friendly church that is nice to visit on occasion. But in a living man who has paid the price so that ALL of us can overcome our mistakes and one day live with our Him, Heavenly Father and our families forever. Words can't express the gratitude I have for this gospel. It is something that has to be experienced by every individual to understand.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to become more like the Saviour, Jesus Christ, every day. I try to see and treat people as he would. I fall very short of that goal, but I just try and do better the next day. I love serving others. I cant imagine how much worse this world would be if people didn't help each other out in even the smallest ways. I have seen service change the hearts of many people. I also live my faith by trying to develop Charity for all of those around me. The scriptures teach us that if we do a ton of amazing things and "have not Charity" (see 1 Corinthians 13) we are "nothing". I believe that if everyone tried harder to have more charity in their lives there would be a lot more happiness for everyone to enjoy. Right now I am trying to share this knowledge with others by serving a full time mission. Now, I havent talked about attending church each Sunday or participating in callings. Those are also important, but it is the fact that they teach us how to be Charitable and serve others that makes them important. So they still fit in with what I have talked about.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

ACT! Faith is a principle of action. "Faith without works is dead." In order to grow our muscles we must exercise them. It is no different with our Faith. Reading the Scriptures, saying prayers and attending church actively are the same and simple ways that we can exercise our faith. Show more Show less
