Hi I'm Christopher

I'm a student of engineering that loves to learn and progress. I'm the oldest of eight kids. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a systems engineering major with a focus on computer sciences. I enjoy working out and I want to be a combat rescue officer in the US Air Force. My parents divorced and remarried when I was young, leaving me the oldest child with 3 sisters on one side of my family and 4 brothers on the other side. I lived in Hawaii, where I joined my high school Samoan club. I learned how to dance and sing traditional Samoan songs and dances. I love my family. I like things simple and try to show my love for people by the way I serve them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have always looked at life in a scientific and mathematical way. As I began to read the scriptures I noticed trends that fit what I was taught to be true about the world. I noticed further, that when I prayed about things I was taught in school and other academic areas, I had a feeling of comfort and understanding. Science testified of the truth of the gospel. But, I am also a Mormon because of family. Family is the most important thing in my life. The plan of happiness speaks of the importance of the family and the great joy that can be had therein. This touches me to the core. I believe there is a just and benevolent God. A just God could not allow something as plainly precious and important as the family be merely a temporal thing. He would ensure that it extended to time and all eternity. I know that I will be most happy with my family in eternity. I´m a Mormon because I have sincerely prayed to know these things are true. I have read the Book of Mormon, I have lived it´s teachings, and I cannot deny the results. I am stronger, I have the ability to overcome my problems, and I´m confident that I really am a true son of God, with the opportunity to become like my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I try everyday to study my scriptures and write in my journal. I would stay up until 2:30 in the morning sometimes in an effort to finish a paper or project, and after I finished I would read as much from my scriptures as I possibly could and write at least a line in my journal to ensure that I was fulfilling my duty to the Lord. It was extremely difficult to do some days. Nevertheless, I maintained an unspotted record for 6 months and I was blessed beyond measure. I found taking the sacrament and serving in my community to be more satisfying. But, I try to live my faith by loving those around me and serving them in any way I can. I´m not perfect, but that´s my goal.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

The Bible is the word of God. It teaches many plain and precious things about the life of Christ and what He did. However, over the passage of time, things were lost and changed in the Holy Bible. While the Bible taught the Gospel of Christ (Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Recieving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Keeping the Commandments), many people interpreted these concepts very differently. Without a guide or authority to interpret these things, people, both well meaning and not, distorted concepts and principles of this Gospel such that the true church of God ceased to exist. We may all worship the same God, but if we are not worshipping God in His desired way, we are not truly worshiping Him. God loves us and wants to communicate more directly with us, and that is why He called prophets or men that were specially chosen by God to be able to communicate the will and direction of God with us without ambiguity or misunderstanding. For many years after the death of Christ and His Apostles, there was no prophet on the earth, requiring a restoration of these things to the earth. Show more Show less
